Scholarships:
Linda Goles Chairman of the Scholarship Committee was pleased to present MOCA’s first scholarships during our 50th year anniversary to three very deserving high school seniors. These candidates were selected after submitting their applications which included an essay along with a face-to-face interview. Each winner receives a $1,000 scholarship payable to the college of their choice. The awards were presented on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 at the General Meeting.
The winners are:
Daniel Bryan who attends Dunnellon High School and is enrolled in the ROTC Air Force program and has received the general Military Excellence Award. He has been accepted and will be attending Indian River State College Criminal Justice program with an emphasis in IT. He hopes to join the FBI in the IT Division.
Keyshawn Johnson who attends Westport High School and is doing a dual enrollment with the College of Central Florida and will receive an AA degree at the time of graduation. Keyshawn currently volunteers and has a job with a local business. He would be attending the College of Central Florida studying Criminal Justice and would like to be a Federal Defense Attorney.
The third winner was unable to make the meeting tonight. Jerlyn Ryan attends Westport High School and is dual enrollment with the College of Central Florida. She enjoys dance, singing and currently works at a local assisted living facility. She would like to enter the Nursing Program and focus on Geriatric nursing and remain here in Marion Oaks community.
