Much has evolved in Marion Oaks since its start

A celebration of the 40th anniversary of Marion Oaks’ founding was hosted Saturday night by the Marion Oaks Civic Association at the development’s Community Center.

A celebration of the 40th anniversary of Marion Oaks’ founding was hosted Saturday night by the Marion Oaks Civic Association at the development’s Community Center.

The expansive 15,000-acre development with nearly 28,000 subdivided home sites located about 18 miles southwest of Ocala is now home to more than 16,000 residents. It was launched by Mackel Brothers builders in 1973 with an “instant neighborhood” core of homes and has endured the recent real estate downturn and yet still strives for cityhood.
